Keen on gardening?! Into food sustainability?
This term View Finders, the environmental sustainability volunteer team, is launching a new exciting project – transforming the garden space outside the Youth Centre! To give the team the skills to create an awesome edible garden that looks super good, we are hosting a one-off gardening workshop run by the founder of My Square Metre Adrian Baiada. Best news so far, this is open to the public (if you’re 14-21 years of age), so come along and learn the steps you’ll need to take, from ‘planning to picking’, to transform your empty space into a flourishing garden!
Adrian is all about encouraging people to work towards a healthy and sustainable food future. He’s had over 14 years of experience helping people from all walks of life create edible abundance in whatever space they have – a windowsill, a balcony or a full backyard. At the end of this workshop you’ll walk away with the skills, ideas, resources and passion necessary to take that first step towards creating a sustainable food future in Mosman.
Topics that’ll be covered in this workshop are:
- Why’s gardening important to my health and my environment?
- What are the steps to consider when starting a garden?
- What are some of the common problems you face as you garden?
- What are some awesome solutions to these – how do we achieve a natural balance when gardening rather than relying on chemicals?
- What are the long-term benefits for those who choose to garden?
The workshop will be held at the Mosman Youth Centre (30 The Crescent, Mosman) from 4.30-5.30pm. Light snacks will be provided.
Now all that’s left to do is just fill out the form below to guarantee your spot! Please note that, where possible, places will be prioritized for Mosman residents.
