Last week we had the 24/7 Youth Film Festival Finals and the teams walked away with over $11,000 worth of sponsorship prizes and more than $3,000 cash.
Everyone rocked up in their Great Gatsby gear in line with the night’s theme and settled in to watch the top 10 films this year. The top 10 ranged from thrillers to comedies and everything in between and together were awarded 15 prizes for the following categories:
- Junior Encouragement Awards x2
- Best Script
- Best Soundtrack
- Best Cinematography
- Best Editing Over 18
- Best Editing Under 18
- Best Female Actor Over 18
- Best Male Actor Over 18
- Best Female Actor Under 18
- Best Male Actor Under 18
- Most Creative Film
- Best Use of Secret Rule
- The People’s Choice Award
- Best Film Under 18
- Best Film

What’s 24/7 all about?
24/7 Youth Film Festival aims to encourage young filmmakers to get creative and get out into their community – with the great line-up of films this year we think it did just that!! You enter as a team (minimum one person, maximum 12 people) and then have to make a 7minutes (or less) film in just 24 hours! Plus to make it a little harder you have to incorporate a secret rule plus items that you do not find out about until right before your 24 hours begin! Much caffeine, sugar and hyper laughter (from lack of sleep) later you hand in your film!
This year we had a record 28 teams enter with 27 getting their film completed on time (though it was touch and go for some who were rendering till the last possible minute)!! All teams had their films screened with over 90 people attending each screening. And then for the finals we had almost 200 people turn up to watch this year’s top 10 and the awards ceremony.

Spotlight Mosman Actor
One of the main actors in the film ‘Garage Sale’, which took out the Junior Encouragement Award, lives in Mosman! Shout out to Spencer T. for awesome acting! Below is a picture of two of the team members who received the award on the night.
