Inter-generational Sketch Challenge

Thank you to everyone who submitted a sketch! Our final challenge winner will be announced shortly.

Council’s Seniors Sketch Class challenged young people to an inter-generational competition during lockdown. Youth and seniors were challenged to submit sketches each week throughout August and were given weekly prompts to see how the generations were both similar and different in their interpretations. Submissions will be displayed side by side with seniors sketches at the Mosman Seniors Centre (post-lockdown). Check out the Youth sketch winners below.

Challenge Rules:

How old do i need to be to enter?

This competition is for high school aged young people.

Can I submit a digital sketch?

Both traditional (pencil/pen) and digital illustration and sketches are welcome.

How are winners chosen?

The Seniors Centre sketch class will vote on their favourite sketches from the youth submissions each week with the winner determined by the highest number of votes received. The class will judge submissions based on creative style and integration of the prompt. We will announce the winners on the Mosman Youth Instagram page one week after each submission close date.

We’ll also be asking young people who submit sketches to vote on their favourite sketch each week from the seniors sketch class.

Can I enter more than once?

You can submit one sketch for each week – so a maximum of 4 entries giving you a shot at $120 worth of prizes!

When do I need to submit by?

If you would like to be considered for the prize each week, you must submit your sketch using the form above by midnight on Sunday of each challenge week. If you miss one week, no problem try again for next week – you just won’t be in the running to win for that week you missed or submitted late.

What if i don’t use the prompt for the specific week?

Sketches using past or unrelated prompts can still be submitted and may be displayed on the Mosman Youth Instagram page however you will not be in the running to win a prize for that week.

Where will my sketch be displayed?

We plan to exhibit the sketches on the Mosman Youth Instagram page either as a multi-image post or story and on the Mosman Community Care Facebook Page. If you do not want your image displayed on these pages please let us know in the Art summary section of the form when uploading your sketch.

Can I enter if I don’t live in Mosman?

We encourage young people from Sydney to get involved however submissions from outside of area will only be eligible to win up to 1 prize throughout the challenge period, regardless of the number of entries submitted.
