Summer holidays will have the Youth Centre open as a Drop-In space for young people in school years 6-12. Along with the usual resources and activities available, we will be running activities each day from 2pm. Have a sneak peek into the activities we have planned below:
*Please note that School Holiday Drop In is supervised in the same way as Drop In during the school term. This means staff are available on site however young people are free to come and go as they please.
Mon 13 Jan – Make Your Own Japanese Noodles
Ever wanted to try and make your own Japanese authentic noodles at home? Make your own Japanese noodle soup and choose from different Japanese noodles to create your original Japanese noodles.. You might discover a new talent for taste and cooking.
Tues 14 Jan – Outdoor Fun
We have noticed that our users like to be active (tag has been a trend among our group for awhile) and we wanted to join them too. Meet us at Allan Border Oval from 2pm for some outdoor activities we created and compete with us for some fun.
Wed 15 Jan – Table Tennis Comp
Drop in to meet new table tennis buddies or test your table tennis skills. We’ll have some warm up sessions just before we kick off the table tennis comp. There will be prizes to be won!
Thurs 16 Jan – DIY Wildlife Pouches
Learn how to sew and knit pouches, mittens and wraps for injured wildlife affected from the bushfires. No experience necessary, we will have all the equipment, tools and material to get you started.
Fri 17 Jan – Balmoral Feast
*Due to the weather conditions we are cancelling this event and instead we will keep the youth centre opened from 12-5pm with food and some games to play.
Mon 20 Jan – Barista Workshop (unaccredited) *
In this workshop, you will learn how to properly operate the coffee machine, make different types of coffee, foam the milk correctly and clean and maintain the coffee machine. You will get some hands-on practice preparing and serving espresso coffee, long blacks and two Australian favourites, the cappuccino and the coffee latte.

Tues 21 Jan – Street Chalk Art
What art would you create if you were given permission to draw on the streets ? Show off your imagination on sidewalks using chalk and chalk sprays!
Wed 22 Jan – Art Gallery Tour – Three Views
We will be visiting Georges Head art exhibition together. From the early days of the colony, Sydney’s authorities built military sites designed to thwart invasion. Conscious of the irony, First Nations artists Black Douglas, Karla dickens and Jason wing, working with curator Djon Mundine OAM, have take over some of these secret sites for a series of poignant, darkly humorous, site specific art installations created inspire deep reflection and offer new perspective on Sydney Harbour.
*Please note to attend the exhibition tour with the Youth team, the young person will need to bring Art gallery tour – indemnity form
Thurs 23 Jan – Screen Printing
Create a hand cut stencil from your own design and using a silk screen, print onto a t-shirt or pillowcase. You’ll be using environmentally friendly, waterbased screenprinting ink that’s solvent free.
Don’t forget to bring your own t-shirt, pillowcase, cushion case or any other fabric you want to try printing on.
Fri 24 Jan – Movie Marathon = PJs
Bring your PJs and your favourite pillow for some movie marathon from 1pm. And yes there will be popcorn and snacks. The movie will be chosen based on the suggestions made by whoever is hanging at the youth centre in that time.
