School Holidays

We are celebrating NAIDOC week and invite all young people to share their voice on Reconciliation, contributing to a collaborative community art piece and together celebrate unity and diversity in our community.
Winter holidays will have the Youth Centre open as a Drop-In space for young people in school years 6-12. Along with the usual resources and activities available, we will be running activities each day from 2pm. Have a sneak peek into the activities we have planned below:

Please note that School Holiday Drop In is supervised in the same way as Drop In during the school term. This means staff are available on site however young people are free to come and go as they please.

DATES: 8 July – 19 July

OPENING HOURS: 12PM – 5PM, Workshops from 2pm.

WEEK 1 – Holiday Drop In Activities

 MON 8th July – Dumpling Day 

Get a taste of Asian cuisine and explore making your own dumplings! We’ll be making the traditional dumpling style as well as create your own dumpling fillings (chocolates, cheese, gummies!?)

 

TUE 9th July –  Trivia and Afternoon Feast

Join us for some afternoon feast with a game of trivia. We’ll be covering games, anime, maybe Netflix? Give us some of you trivia quiz and we’ll make sure to include it.

 

 


WED 10th July – Clay Project

Roll, squeeze, twist, let your imagination go wild and make your own unique sculpture

 

 

THURS 11th July – Coil Weaving
Celebrating native plants, we will explore how to use natural fibres from our environment to weave a coil pendant or to start a basket.

 

 

FRI 12th July – String Weaving
Learn the empowering art of making your own string from native fibres to start your own bush jewellery or start a string net bag.

 

 

WEEK 2 – Holiday Drop In Activities

MON 15th July – Art Collab

Shape your space! Join in on a collaborative art project led by textiles artist Olivia Arnold. Together we will be working on a fun new piece to be displayed in the Youth Centre.

 

TUES 16th July – Board Games Day

Jenga, Monopoly, Twister and a whole host of other cult board games will feature in an epic tournament of both wit, wiles and skill. Check it out, who knows you might be the new champ!

 

WED 17th July – Chocolate Making
Chocolate. Nuf said. Get your hands dirty as we make our very own chocolate and experiment with a few fun recipes.

 

 

THURS 18th July – Just Dance Showcase -BREAK IT DOWN

Get moving with the beats! Dancer or non – dancer this game is for everyone. Upskill your moves with some simple choreo lesson afterwards.

 

 

FRI 19th July – PJ’s, Popcorn & Movie Day

Reminisce on all the best parts of your holidays, get comfy in your pj’s and wind down with a movie marathon day.

      Hi Damian,

      For our School Holidays we have two different programs where one is paid and the other is free to young people! Keep your eyes out for our upcoming Spring Holidays where DROP-IN is free for young people in years 6-12.

      Hi Susan, if you click on the “bookings for spring break 2018 open now” (purple font) it will open an new tab with the booking form. You can also click on “School Holiday Program” (green font) and more details for each activity along with a link to the booking form can also be found.
