What is Shift This?

Shift This is a 2-day conference that is put on by Youth Action. It aims to inspire young people to explore, design and make change in their communities. Every second year, Youth Action hosts this conference for young people in NSW with the goal of helping them to develop their skills on speaking out and taking action on what they see around them!

Who can go along to Shift This?

Anyone can go who is interested in finding out how they can make a difference in their community!

If you answer yes to any of the following make sure you get there!!

– you care about issues facing young people

– you want to make a difference in your community

– you want to learn some new skills in a practical way

– you want to connect with like-minded people

What can Shift This offer me?

At Shift This you’ll get to:

  • Discover and learn about key issues affecting young people in NSW
  • Form teams to develop projects to address an issue in your community
  • Learn how to design and implement a community-based project that effects real change in your community
  • Pitch your project to a panel of experts
  • Receive support to launch your project after Shift This

You’ll have the chance to interact with politicians, community leaders and industry experts and with one another to develop effective projects that create change in your community! You will learn practical approaches to creating change in an environment that is supportive and hands-on!

After this conference you will have built a ready-to-launch community change project, you’ll have a network of peers excited about making a difference and the confidence to take actions on issues you care about!

  • Where: UTS AERIAL Function Centre (https://goo.gl/maps/GxWlj)
  • When: Friday 12 – Sunday 14 September (Fri 3pm – 5pm; Sat/Sun 9am – 5pm)
  • Cost: $120pp ($100pp for groups of 5+, $90pp for groups of 10+)
