Celebrate Youth Week on the North Shore and get involved in events across our region in celebration of young people! There are heaps of events planned for Youth Week from 20-30 April 2023, including music performances, skate activities, dance parties and more. Check out what’s planned below:
Thursday 20 April 12:30-4:30pm | Mosman Youth Centre
Battle it out with friends on our massive 70″ Prowise Screens in the Youth Centre and Creation Space. Compete across Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party and Boomerang Fu with heaps of prizes up for grabs! Please arrive by 12:30pm so we can allocate your game time and comp draw. This free competition is part of the Mosman Youth Holiday Drop In Program. Register Here
Thursday 20 April 10am-1pm | Meadowbank Skatepark
This year School of Skate and Brella Skateboards are hosting our annual Youth Week Skate Jam! Competition for age groups are 12-15 years 16-18 years + over 18s. [If you’re travelling from Willoughby there is an excursion bus from Chatswood Youth Centre with more info here]
Thursday 20 April 1-4pm | Meadowbank Skatepark
Battle of the Bands is back this year! Enter your band for your chance to win a recording package, entries close March 31st 2023. Finalists will be playing it out at Meadowbank Skatepark and Winners at St Ives Skatepark. Please note another competition is being held in Lane Cove under this same competition – bands may only enter one comp heat. For young people 12-24 years old. Register Here
Friday 21 April 3-6:30pm | The Canopy Lane Cove
Win a recording package and the opportunity to perform at a Skate Event in St Ives! Band applications close on Friday 31 March 2023. The Battle of the Bands Competition held in Meadowbank is part of the same competition – bands may only enter one heat. Learn about Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country with Aunty Suzie from the Gaimaragal Group. Together we’ll help create a Acknowledgement of Country to Borogegal and Cammeraygal people where Mosman Youth Centre is located that we can use for programs and events in the space. Saturday 22 April 6-7:30pm | Event Cinemas Macquarie
Come see the stunning final works of Australia’s largest regional youth short film competition! Nextwave film festival opens from May each year for young people across Australia and this year young people were invited to make a short film under 5 minutes that included the theme “transformation” and a green item. Wednesdays 5-26 April 4-5:30pm | Mosman Youth Centre
Get your green thumb ready for an exciting journey into the world of gardening! Join us for a 4-week program filled with educational and hands-on activities featuring native plants and food using an indigenous perspective to learn about all things bush. Thursday 27 April 5-8pm | Mosman Art Gallery Grand Hall
Celebrate and enjoy a night of live musical performances from local youth artists, creative activities, dancing, food, singing and more. Raise the Youth is organised by and for young people so expect to see youth performers and youth volunteers hosting the night of fun. This is a free event for young people 12-18 years old. Friday 28 April 3-5pm | St Leonards Park
Get your whitest of white clothes on and get multi-coloured. Head down to St Leonards Park on Miller Street in North Sydney for a wild Colour Run with twist. Think obstacle course and SLIME. And of course a ton of coloured Holi powder. Oh, and live music to keep the fun going. FREE, for young people 12-20 years old. Register Here

This dance event is open to all abilities and supported by Ability Options. Think Superhero vibes + Sensory Tent + Indoor Lawn Games + Bubble & Smoke Machines + DJ Dance Floor + Silent Disco + Selfie Wall + Crazy Hair & Face Paint Artist + Glow Station & Snow Cones + Prizes and Giveaways and more! Saturday 29 April 10am-3pm | St Ives Stake Park
Fine-tune your skateboard or scooter skills with guided lessons, and show off your tricks in our skate and scooter competitions! Hosted by Brella Skateboards and School of Skate. Enjoy free food, music, pop-up games, and other activities. Free event for youth aged 12-24. Registrations required for lessons and competitions, no registrations needed to watch and cheer them on! Two youth band winners will be jamming out at St Ives! Come celebrate the youth band winners of Battle of the Bands 2023 Meadowbank and Lane Cove. Free food, music, pop-up games, and other activities to enjoy. Free event for young people aged 12-24. No registrations required
